    Communication is much hyped term and English speaking is the most talked about course. But, still the fact can't be ignored that it is a must to have skill. Good English creates halo effect on the audience and other imperfect work gets unnoticed with it. The Spoken English course which is designed to help students, to learn English language by giving more emphasis on speaking skills along with the development of listening, writing and reading with the knowledge of grammar.

    The purpose of the course is to develop skills and techniques that are necessary for Effective Communication, Public Speaking and Personality Development. In turn which will help the students to communicate better and speak English with confidence in public, among individuals, officials and clients, in meeting and conferences.

    The course also helps in developing strong personality, inter-personal and intra-personal communication as well so that they can have a barrier-free personality.

    Need for English

    In this competitive world, the need to be presentable is increasing so as the need to speak English.  English, an international language and has become the official language of the country because all the advanced knowledge in education, science & technology and medicines are available in English only.

    In India, many students fail in examinations due to lack of knowledge in English and improper communication skills. It is believed that students in Bihar, lag in campus recruitment or interviews due to poor spoken English and communication abilities. Lack of fluency in English and hesitancy in communicating in the language sets the major drawback for students to get a reputed job.

    English creates a ‘value addition’ in a candidate’s job profile of a candidate when they think about getting a job and so they flock to such crash courses to take speaking lessons. And it is this good English communication skill, which is considered as one of the value that every industry wants in their employees.

    Call centres employees mostly deals with international clients, require executives who know English and a fluent with well clear voice and accent. These qualities are must for candidates when think about joining call centres.

    To work in a corporate company, a good communication is the lifeline. It builds reputation and credibility which can help you earn the client's trust and confidence. If the employees aren’t able to communicate properly than it will be a big hindrance to the business.

    Course Contents and Techniques Used

    Crash courses promises to make everyone speak English fluently within a short period of time. Their content of teaching starts from basic grammar to individual interviews, day to day conversations and reading newspapers to forming sentences. They try to make every student to participate in activities since their aim is to help each and every student to be perfect in English.

    Spoken English is taught at two levels; basic level and advanced level. Voice and accent training, speech fluency, pronunciation are the few areas that are covered in the institutes. Most of the institutes also assist the students with job placements for call centres, BPOs, front and back office executives.

    Basic Level

    Basic Level are for those who are very poor in English. The objective of this level is to gradually develop their skills through communicative approach of teaching and learning. This level contains topics likebasic introduction, activity based grammar practice of simple tense and day-to-day conversations. After completion of this basic level, onewill be able to understand conversations.

    Advanced level

    In Advanced level, student are taught with the professional and advanced use of English. The teachers teach students about word formation, syntax of sentence and complex sentences. Problem that appear in high form of grammar and daily conversation practice which will make student to be perfect in English speaking.

    Growth and output

    India has realised the importance of communication skills with the increase in IT and BPOs. V. Gopalakrishnan, the General Manager of Veta originally known as Vivekananda Institute in Chennai, a 34 year old English teaching Academy says that," India has become virtually the hub of global back office and the market scenario is highly encouraging for those who know English. Though this Communication Skill Improvement industry is worth Rs 1,200 crores, there are only a few organised players. Rest, are all self-styled, mostly like private tuitions and there is hardly any scientific study involved in this exercise".

    There are three areas where academies work, first is they help home study, another they would set up training centres and third is organising training centres for corporate clients. Crash courses are very helpful as they encourage the student to learn language which is alien.Many people of different age group come to learn English and the output of this crash course proves to be highly effective. The course are also now available online so that one is able to learn from their home.
